That would work.
What you can do is take the valve adjusters out so the cam followers are
not putting pressure on the valve, then put airpressure in an see where it comes out.
I do believe with the adjustment screws removed the valves will be closed, the piston will move to the bottom of the cylinder and a good cylinder would have very little flow out
the intake, exhaust or vent out the crankcase.
The very correct way would to be, turn the engine in correct rotation and hold the crank
at top dead center on compression, then with a leak down gauge put pressure into
the cylinder to see how much is held and were it leaks from. Problem is there is no
good easy way to hold the cranksaft from turning. As it turns it would open a valve.

Just did the finger test with my finger over the plug hole. Maybe 5 lbs I need the adapter for a motorcycle for my gauge. Seem maybe a valve if I put air into the spark plug hole it comes out the exhaust pipe. does that seen right.
