>>I have an '82 C70 that isn't starting. I'm changing the plug today and have recharged the battery. I have fuel ruining out when I adjust the drain screw. >>My question I have two hoses coming from the gas tank running into the carb at the toggle valve switch. Should both hoses be filled with fuel? Also, >>what are the various position the valve can be in? I've looked in the manual but can't find the different positions<<
The verdict is in. I was low on gas (below the regular tank fill). I put fuel in the tank, changed the spark plug, used some starting fluid in the air cleaner and the cycle runs now. I still have a problem with it shutting down at idle so tomorrow, weather permitting, I'm plan to adjust the idle speed with the throttle stop screw. The manual says a tachometer in necessary but, since I don't have one, can I adjust it based on increasing idle speed?
Also, when I looked at the air cleaner ,mine is round vs. the square one shown in the manual. I tried to pull it out and it appears to be stuck. Not wanting to break it I left it alone. Is there something holding the airlifter in?
Thanks for all your help and ideas. They gave me confidence to try the repairs myself.
