[Honda-C70] Unable to shift out of 1st...

Dear All,

I am a proud owner of a 1982 Honda C70 and am looking to put a lot of time into this bike. I have done some minor fixes dealing with the headlight and battery. This bike has 12,000 miles on it. Recently, I am unable to shift into the second gear. Sometimes when clicking the clutch back to go to first from N, it doesn't quite catch, but after the second or third hit it does but it won't go to 2 to save its life. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this or has any ideas?

I have tried adjusting that central nut on the right side of the bike to see and going through both extremes of really tight and loose did not fix the problem. I am definitely just getting into bikes and do not fully understand the workings of this machine quite yet. Do you guys think I should attempt this fix by purchasing

this and mounting it in? or would this be more of a transmission issue?

Any tips/ideas would definitely be appreciated.

Take care, Sincerely,

-Mike
