Re: [Honda-C70] 1980 C70 with a blown headlight

William,

Thanks for the input. When I rev the engine up the AC voltages goes as high as 9
V which does not seem to me to be high enough to blow a bulb.

Eric

Just installed my replacement headlight shell assembly from DrATV on the C70
in the past week (and also a similar unit on my CT70 Mini-trail special at
the same time) - it's not meant specifically for the C70, but rather some
unknown Chinese clone (headlight embossing is 'XANADU'.. not 'Stanley' as
per CSA/OEM markings).

As the DrATV website indicates - it requires a bit of tweaking to fit. I
had to rebend slightly the top retaining tab, and file down some excess
metal on it, and the two lower screw tabs needed slight re-bending/tweaking
- beyond that, it's good. I haven't actually fired the bike up yet to see
what the light pattern is lik,e as of yet - I'm currently rust-treating the
tank at the moment.

Once installed, simply replacing a bulb at $3.00 vs a $36.00 sealed beam
again.. a no-brainer there.

Bulbs fail due to one of three causes - age, vibration fatigue, or
over-voltaging.

Hello,

My wife was given a 1980 C70 with the head light blown. I see DrAtv has some
with replaceable bulbs. Has anyone tried those?

Is there a chance something else is wrong to blow the bulb? It has a battery
in it that is holding 6 V +.

Any help is appreciated.

Eric
