double check and make sure the idle screw is not screwed in all the way and that
the throttle valve is installed properly, if not, it can make it run too fast.
Michael
PS, do not throw away your old carburetor, it can probably be rebuilt.

Subject: [Honda-C70] idle way too high
Hi all,
I recently bought an '84 C70. The gas tank had to be replaced with a brand new
one as it was all rusty inside. I decided to replace the carb too with a new
one. Turns out the carb wasn't an exact match but close enough and I've got it
attached okay. However I now can't get the idle down. It's way too high and any
adjustments to the idle stop screw has no affect on it.
Has anyone encountered this with a replacement carb? If so how did you fix it.
The tank and carb were bought from Beatrice.
Thanks
Wally
