RE: [Honda-C70] idle way too high

Wally: It sounds to me like your cable end that hooks into a pocket in the throttle slide is not in the pocket . Does you hand throttle have a lot of free play, more than 1/4 " or so? If you hooked the cable through the slit in the side of the slide with out getting the barrel end down or up into the pocket your cable is shortened by the thickness of the end . About 1/3 throttle is as slow as the slide can get if I guessed right. My 81 still has the OEM factory rust in the tank that has never gotten better or worse or caused problems. Good Luck ! Subject: [Honda-C70] idle way too high

Hi all,

I recently bought an '84 C70. The gas tank had to be replaced with a brand new one as it was all rusty inside. I decided to replace the carb too with a new one. Turns out the carb wasn't an exact match but close enough and I've got it attached okay. However I now can't get the idle down. It's way too high and any adjustments to the idle stop screw has no affect on it.

Has anyone encountered this with a replacement carb? If so how did you fix it. The tank and carb were bought from Beatrice.

Thanks
Wally
