Subject: [Honda-C70] Runs. Doesn't. Sigh. Hints? Please?
My 81 C70 was idling really high and not responding to the idle or mixture screws. So I finally got brave and took the carb apart (first time). Cleaned out the jets w/ guitar wire, etc.
Put it back together and it wouldn't start. Had spark -- had gas, but not so much as a sputter. Charged the battery... nothing. Tried a few days later -- nothing. Then, today (several days later) I turned it over a few times and it roared to life. Ran really nice too! Idled nice and low. Sounded like the carb cleaning worked. Didn't try to drive it -- ran for about 2 minutes. I was, of course delighted... but then a couple hours later I tried and she won't start again.
What would be your first plan of attack?
I posted this a couple weeks ago, and either it was insanely hard, or so easy it didn't merit a response -- cause I didn't get even so much as a "gee, dunno."
***(here's my old post that didn't get answered. i'm sure it was just an oversight. :-)
> I am BRAND new to carbs, but I took mine off for the first time, (thanks to some nice you*ube videos from a CT70) and cleaned it up. It actually didn't look too bad, but I got some guitar string and cleaned up the jets and etc.

> But here's my question. When I operate the choke cable (or do it w/ my hands), with the choke pulled on, the butterfly locks closed (straight up and down, perpendicular to the ground) but when i push the cable back in the butterfly becomes loose, but doesn't go to the "open" position -- parallel to the ground -- however, it does become loose at that point. That is -- I can't budge the closed butterfly when the choke is on and closed, but I can at least hold it open w/ my fingers.

Has gas -- has spark******
