Thanks william I just got this passport 70 and as is cond but it kicked over no compression. do you need another ct 70 engine I have one here its a 4 speed clutch Thomas

Have you torqued down the head-bolts lately, and if so, is there a
possibility they've been over-torqued - pulling the stud out of the head or
snapping it?
Just a wild stab in the dark - I've got a CT70 motor sitting on the bench
that had me scratching my head for a bit, until I figured out that the PO
pulled the stud out of the case by over-torquing it, and then epoxied the
stud back in place and sold it on to me .. (doh!) .. ran for a little bit,
and then hard-starting, and finally no compression as the epoxy gave way -
just whistles out the head gasket when it's kicked over.
As I said, just a stab in the dark, something to check in terms of the motor
compression. Oil/gas leaks around the top-end gaskets would be a dead
giveaway, right off the bat.
Otherwise - check valve clearances to make sure one isn't hanging open and
banging up against the piston (the sound you might be hearing on kick-over?)
Easy enough to pull the top end off and see what's what, in any case.

is the auto clutch out of adjustment is that why the compression is gone.
