[Honda-C70] Re: kickstand blues

It has a bolt that holds it the footpegs, and a spring which is fairly tight which creates the bistable action. If you hold the bike up and extend the stand out (so it's not on the ground) it should be fairly stiff.

Some questions I thought of to consider, FWIW:

How far does it lean over when on the stand? I've seen bikes of identical model lean in varying degrees due to the footpegs being slightly bent this way or that but if too much or not enough it can be unstable.

Are you turning the wheel to the left when parked? Are you parking on sufficiently hard ground?

Was it bumped and it shouldn't have been a big enough bump to knock it over, or was it just standing there and fell over all by itself?

After it's fallen over, is the kickstand in the retracted position or still extended and just failed to hold it up?

Did it fall over to the left or the right?

I removed it, and the parts dont look badly worn, although there is a lot of play up and down if you grab the stand at the end. is there supposed to be any shims between the stand itself and the frame mount?(I have none). Any advice from the experienced? Also- just a note on my carb problems- I bought a new carb from drAtv, $53 shipped. put it on, started right up, ran like a champ. Filled the tank, rode 20 mi, refilled the tank to the same spot, 20 oz of fuel. 1 oz per mile will be fine with me. will see if that holds for a whole tankfull.-bob
