Sounds like the clutch plates are stuck together. 825 miles / 1980= 26 miles a year.
Start the bike, with it idleing in 1st gear, do you fell it pulling forward?
Now shift into into "N" and back into 1st BUT hold the shifter as you shift so the shifter does not
spring back to center. Do you fell the bike pulling? If yes the clutch plates are sticking together.
I would say ride it, do a few shifts from 2nd into 3rd but hold the shifter so it does not return to center
and left the bike coast,then release. Do that a few times then change the oil again. It might work the
plates loose and the fresh oil get them back to working right.

I just bought a 1980 C70 with 825 miles...It is running OK, but
shifting seems clunky and abrupt even though I am off the throttle
when shifting. What should the shifts feel like, and what if anything
