[Honda-C70] Re: 1981 C70 Engine swap to a 1982 C70

 

The 1981 has points and condenser ignition, while the 1982 has CDI ignition. You will need the ignition coil from the 1981 engine, it will not power up the 1982 CDI ignition coil.

The ignition system portion of the 1982 wiring harness is different because of the CDI. The engine connector wiring will not mate to the 1981 engine.

All bulbs will need to be replaced with 6 Volt units, as will the flasher, horn, and battery.

The rectifier may be different, but it should work out. Worst case, you would have to swap in the 6 Volt rectifer.

The starter wiring may need a tweak for connectors, should not be too huge a problem.

The carburetor fuel lines may be a bit different.
