I have a 1981 C70
I runs pretty well over-all except when I slow down and then try to accelerate it will backfire and "load up" til rpm's get going again. If I downshift, all is fine. Didn't used to do this. I changed the spark plug and I thought that solved it but seemed to be ok for just awhile then back again. I thought possibly I might run some of the sta-bil gas stuff thru it but haven't yet.
One more thing, I don't drive more than a mile or so, usually at a time and the starter won't start although it used to before I bought new battery. Maybe i got bad battery? I have a small 6v charger that I've left on it and the most i ever get is a short 1/2 second try to start. It starts fine with kick starter - usually first time so that's what I have done. Mainly like to fix the backfiring.
