My '81 starer works great with a new battery for about 2 months then gradually stops working all electrical components check out fine. It is a 70cc motor and why it even has a starter is beyond me, 3 or 4 kicks if the bike has been sitting for a few weeks and off we go. You can practically blow on the kicker and turn it over. If you ever tried to kick start a late 60's Harley Davidson Sportster you would understand how easy these things are to start. My advise is check your components, if they check out OK, it is the 6volt battery which doesn't have a lot of cranking power any way. Just save your money and kick the darn thing. I change my battery every 3 years
