Hi I'm looking at page 15-2 (page 154) of the 80-82 C70 Shop Manual.
Under "CONTINUITY TEST" the diagram shows an ohmmeter connected between the primary (+12V) and the secondary (high voltage) lead. And it says:
"The coil is good if there is continuity."
To me, "continuity" means 0 ohms or thereabouts - like a wire.
I get 9k ohms for this test - same as I get for the SECONDARY test.
Looking at the diagram of the coil on 15-0, the CONTINUITY test is measuring the resistance of the primary and secondary coils in series. So my result makes sense to me: it should be about 1 ohm more than the 9K ohm secondary - a difference that I can't measure.
Shouldn't the manual say...
"The coil is good if it measures about the same as the secondary" ???
