RE: [Honda-C70] Gas leaking from Carb

I hope you meant to say you taped the carb with the" Handle "of a hammer . That would be to try to unstick a stuck float that is sticking down & not shutting off completely. The fix would be to clean the carb with extra attention to the " float needle" & seat. The easy half way fix is to shut the gas petcock off every time you park the bike & turn it on every time you start which I hope you already have the habit of doing. If you don`t shut the petcock off all the gas in the tank tries by gravity to get past the float needles tiny rudder tip . The slide needle has nothing to do with gas shut off only mid range mixture. Good Luck ! Baby Huey

Subject: [Honda-C70] Gas leaking from Carb

Ok so I got my 81 c70 running. I posted on here earlier about a rusty gas tank and ended up having it repaired at Mac's Radiator shop in Portland for 65 bucks. I have been riding the bike now for about a month? Anyway the day I started it up I had a bad gas leak from the carb drain. I finally figured out that I had the needle set in the top wrong. Anyway I thought this fixed the problem until I brought the bike to Montana and had the same problem with a small trickle of gas leaking. When I returned to OR I haven't had the problem again until today. I topped off the gas and think the extra pressure may be causing it to drip again. What should I look for? It's the 46 dollar Chinese carb from Dratv. I took off the top part and made sure the needle was set in there right. I also hit the carb a couple times with a hammer to loosen something? The only thing I can think of is that I may have put in the old spring from the old carb. I definitely didn't mix up the needles.

Btw thanks for the previous advice! I have had a lot of fun reading through the emails.
