Jean Luc Picard queried a few things including "I've been wondering if replacing all the lamps was worth the added efficiency".
Never measured fuel efficiency gain, doubt it is anything like 5 MPG.
My reason for converting to LED turn signals, stop/tail and dash lamps was improved low RPM visibility. I ride in a place frequented by much older drivers who may be lost, not observant, unable to see well, and fresh off the plane from a locale with few small cycles. Being seen is a matter of life and death here in the land of retirees.
Several nice side effects:
Improved short-trip battery charging.
At idle and low speed, the blinkers are bright cycle OFF and ON crisply.
The stop and tail lamp are bright.
The headlight does not dim as much.
The four-way hazard flashers are a welcome addition.
The downside:
Cost, you will spend 100 dollars or so.
The battery will overcharge more, and sooner on long rides.
