I agree with Mike that the shockingly high cost of the break in service was a deal breaker for some people . All of the motorcycles I had owned before the 81 c70 Honda the break in service was considered Warranty work at no charge except for supplies $ 20 or so about the cost of an oil change at the Chevy or Ford garage. Honda`s break in service charge would have been the equivalent of $1000 . oil change in my 69 Pontiac GTO. That probably meant that there was no profit to small town dealer`s selling small cheap bikes like there had been in the 60`s & 70`s Baby Huey`s 2 cents

I'd go with 500 miles or twice a year to start. 1000 and once a year
after 1500 miles. More often if you ride it daily.

It needs a break-in service too.

Valves, check everything, lube everything, clean carb. etc.

The bike was probably parked near when it needed its first service -
like most of them - because it cost some money to do the work.
$125-150 was a third to half as much as the bike cost new .

Deal-breaker for many owners. A great deal for you.
