RE: [Honda-C70] Front Fork - rebuild??

Patrick: I agree with John K try checking the bolts first. My 81 had a squawk in the front brake so I sanded the drum & shoes & fallowed with brake cleaner . When I reassembled the squawk was gone but the brake pulled to the left. Axel must be binding I thought , so I loosened it a bit. Now it didn`t pull to the side but it wobbled. After much trial & error of turning the castle axle nut 1 hole at a time I found the" Goldie Locks " spot where it was " just right" . No $$$ just time spent. Also I disassembled my front suspension to check for wear & found that the grease zerks were stuck & had never let any grease in . So I unstuck the check balls with a sharp nail & greased the zerks . The front end was much tighter for a couple of weeks with grease filling all the spaces that had been dry since the factory. Again no $$$ just time . Good Luck ! Baby Huey

Patrick, on the '81 we had until just a few years ago, there was a time when I
noticed the front wheel getting 'wobbly' as you describe. I assumed that fixing
would require suspension disassembly and some level of 'rebuild'. I was pleased
to find that the suspension pivot bolts were somehow no longer tight, and it was
fixed simply by tightening them back up. (Ours was a low-miles bike...less than
2500 miles, as I recall.) Maybe you also could be so fortunate?

You can replace the bushings, the arms and the shocks at dratv.com
and without any special tools.
