Firstly, empty the tank. Either drive it until it's on res and then let it idle till death (might take awhile). Or clamp off the res line, then unplug it from the carburetor, and let the fuel drain into a gas can.
Once the tank is empty, unscrew the screws holding it to the frame. Then reach your hand inside the battery compartment and feel around for the lines. Unplug the lines from the tank. You can clamp the lines first (I like to use mosquito clamps) before removing them to ensure no spillage from left over fuel in the lines. Chances are you'll spill a bit on yourself, so wearing petroleum proof gloves (made from nitrile) helps.
Remove the tank and leave the lines in place. When your tank is ready, just replace the tank, reach your hand into the battery compartment, and replace the lines. Just remember which line is which (I clamp the mosquito clamps at different areas ex: the one clamped at the very tip of the line is res and the one with the camp further down is on).
I had to replace my lines because the previous owner used some cheap plastic tubing that got hard and cracked. I replaced them with automotive fuel lines. It was a pain to get them in through the small opening in the frame. But once the gas tank is out, it'll be a lot easier to work with. Also if you don't have them already, get some of those line clamps to keep them secure and not leaking. I also put in some fuel filters on the new lines. I think I used 8 of those little fuel line clamps in all.
Good luck!
