[Honda-C70] noise after replacing spring and rod

I thought I was changing oil on my 82 honda and when I removed the bolt a spring and rod fell out and had a little oil on the rod and spring . I replaced the rod first then the spring because I found out this wasn't the oil drain plug. When i went to ride the bike I heard the rod jumping and making a noise. Did I put it back right and is there supposed to be oil in there? Thanks, Keith

As has been mentioned - engine oil takes care of everything. 30w
generic oil is perfectly OK if you change it often. SG-grade oil
without modern friction modifiers ("energy conserving" oil) will work
fine too.

Don't mess with your clutch. If the idle is set too high, shifting
will be very hard. This is because the automatic clutch is designed
to grab at a pretty low rpm. Set the rpm too and the clutch will be
partially engaged, making shifting tough. Set the idle LOW. As low as
it will go without stalling.

If it's still tough to shift after setting the idle low, we can talk
about other possibilities.

Where the files are kept online:

The speedo pages in the online:

Again, as others have suggested, the INDUCTIVE or magnetic drive
inside the speedo needs an air gap between the drive and driven parts
(inside the rotor). If the bike has ever been stored out in the
weather, there might be a little corrosion or dirty build-up inside
the rotor, and the INDUCTIVE part becomes DIRECT DRIVE, which will
often make the needle erratic and sometimes simply overdrive the
needle until it hits the end peg too hard and breaks one or the other
off, or damages the hairspring and stopper.

There's no easy way to repair this, so the usual suggestion is to get
a replacement.
