Hi allMy oil change is due in a few days also.Peak summer temp: 53CAverage Speed: 40-45 kphHead wind: mostly zero as most often Im following traffic and very little air hits the engine.Over heating: Very common when im in traffic in 1-2 gears.Traffic density: Above average heavy I heard that stp oil treatment is for very old engines. Mine got a new piston 2000km ago.
Some Oil choices:Shell Advance A5 10w40 Mobile 1 10w40 for motorcycles (most expensive, 7-8 times cost of normal oil)
20w60 (twice cost of normal oil)Caltex havolin 20w50Shell Helix Ultra fully synthetic 10w40
Previous oil I used Caltex havolin 20w50 with stp addative. Maybe the addative made this oil a 60 or 70. Only on few occasions I experienced over heating with this. Compression still super tight. The kick sometimes gives a strong kick back if the engine does not start. I want at least 50 summer Viscosity index. So 20w60 tugs me. Mobile tugs me too but the 40 bothers me as I think it too low for my needs. I think I shouldnt go below 50 index.
Please bear in mind high summer heat, slow speeds in heavy traffic and very little air on engine due to bumper to bumper congested traffic flow at many times.
Long time back my dad used 30w40 (that was the only choice available I suppose) in his twin cylinder 175 honda in Karachi, a windy city.
Mine has a wet clutch so I suppose Shell helix ultra 10w40 is out of the question?

It is best to use a motorcycle oil any brand will do. You have to be carefull with automotive oils as they have additives
that make the oil slippery to cut down on friction, the problem being the Honda's use a wet clutch. The clutch rides in the
engine oil bath so adding a slippery friction modifier will cause the clutch to slip.
The plug on the left side case cover is the timing inspection hole. That side of the engine is dry, no oil!!!!
Till you get a handel on working on this bikes, best to just change the oil by draining and refilling. The oil screen access is
hard and the going back together can turn into a very very time consuming job, best done when no kids are around as the
words needed to get it together will have your mother looking for the hand soap to wash your mouth out!!!!

I just use 10w40. A shifter fill hole? No the transmission doesn't have any sort of fluid, it just uses the same oil as the engine since they're all one piece.
